PAGEANT
An affiliate of Miss Rodeo America, Inc., the state Miss Rodeo Minnesota Pageant is held annually in conjunction with a Minnesota PRCA rodeo.  Contestants must be comfortable meeting new people, relaxed speaking to individuals as well as large crowds and be skilled and knowledgeable horsewomen.

Contestants are judged in three main areas - Appearance, Horsemanship and Personality.  Judges observe the contestants as they demonstrate their horsemanship skills, including patterns, rail work, presenting a flag and making a queen's run; their speaking skills with the presentation of a prepared speech and the answering of impromptu questions; the knowledge with personality and horsemanship interviews; and their inner and outer beauty at all times.

In addition to showcasing the above talents and knowledge, Miss Rodeo Minnesota contestants should possess the following:
  • Desire to be a leader in her community and promote the state’s great Western Heritage and Western way of life.
  • Love of horses and everything they represent.
  • Desire to act as the official representative of Rodeo to the general public, including the following traits:
    • Unexcelled sportsmanship
    • High moral and ethical character
    • Careful and humane treatment of animals
    • Understanding of the sport of Rodeo
  • Interest in furthering her chosen career through higher education and special training.

Upon selection as Miss Rodeo Minnesota, the titleholder spends the months leading up to the beginning of her reign as a "Lady in Waiting" during which time she sets her upcoming schedule, secures sponsors and attends the Miss Rodeo America Pageant to support the reigning titleholder and to prepare for her own competition.  Once her reign begins, Miss Rodeo Minnesota travels the state and the nation to promote Minnesota's rich western heritage, Minnesota's 12 PRCA rodeos, and proud agricultural roots.
